Karimunjawa where cultur meet nature

Batulawang History
In northest side of Batulawang there is a rock that looks like a door (called lawang in javanese). Long time ago, it used as an entrance for people who came to Batulawang. That's why the area called Batulawang. First people who came to Batulawang came from Bugis ethnic, that make most of people who live in Batulawang come from Bugis ethnic. But nowdays Javanese and Madura ethnic also lives in Batulawang. They live together in peace eventhough they have different cultur.

Tourism Potential
Bare beach
Bare beach is located in west side Batulawang, it have beautiful view underwater. You can learn how to plant seaweed while enjoying natural coral view. There is Labuang Butung port that used to be Butons people traditional port. There's also sunken ship, Indonor, belong to Norway that sunk in 1970s.

Timo beach
Located in east of Batulawang, You can enjoy underwater scenery which never been you meet before. Shallow sea water level suitable for you to swim and snorkle. There is also an old mosque around the beach that became the witnesses of Islamic's spreading in Karimunjawa.

Bugis traditional food
Enjoy Bugis traditional food that only made ocasionally. One of it is Buras, which made from rice and coconut milk mix

Japanese cave
Besides Pengantin Rock, you can also find a historic place called Japanese cave (Goa Jepang) in Mandi Beach Rock. In the war period, this cave used to save important document belongs to Japanese army.

Pengantin rock
There is a pair of rock in Batu Mandi Beach that people used to call Batu Pengantin (Pengantin Rock). Legend said it came from a story of a newlywed couple who cursed by their own word.

Bugis taditional house
In the beginning, people made Rumah Panggung to avoid wild animal and flood. Eventhough there is only some left, people still keep it as a symbol of their tradition.

Mrican village
Mrican is a village in Kemujan Island, Karimunjawa, which most of the people come from javanese ethnic. Beautiful sunset, easy access, and complete facility is the speciality that belong to the beaches in Mrican.

Legon mrican
Enjoy traveling in natural mangroove forest. You can reach there by walking or riding two wheel vehicle. Followed by renting a canoe to see magnificing mangroove forest plus beautiful sunset.
Mrican port
Located in north side of Kemujan. Enjoy the beauty of sunset in peacefull small port. Tourist can rent native people's ship to reach Mrican, Cemara Karimun, and Bengkoang Island

Mrican Island
With several minutes trip from Mrican Port by canoe, you can enjoy beautiful scenery from Mrican Island. Rent native people's ship by 300.000 - 450.000 rupiah then enjoy sixty minutes trip from Mrican Port to Bengkoang's Island. You can also visit other islands around Karimunjawa.

Jepara, one of the 35 regencies in Central Java Province at Indonesia Country, is located between 5°43`20,67” up to 6°47`25, 83” south latitude and 110°9`48, 02” up to 110°58`37, 40” east longitude. This region is surrounded by sea of Java at Westside and north side. The eastside part is bounded by the Regency of Kudus and Pati, but the Southside part is bounded by The Regency of Demak.  The closest distance to the capital city of regency is the District of Tahunan, that is about 7 Km away, but the furthermost distance is the District of Karimunjawa, that is about 90 km away.

        Torism development programs are aimed at role of tourism in economic activity, which can create employment and also job opportunity, as a mean to improve earnings and foreign exchange of society
To improve tourism development is not only fluorishing various tourism spot potencies but also to increase tourism accommodation infra-structures. In the year 2007, The regency of Jepara has 34 units accommodation. It consists of 2 classified hotels, 7 non classified hotels and also 25 other units. Those units accommodate about 453 rooms and 823 units bed. 
         In the year 2007, room occupation rate of classified hotel has experiencing downward compared to previous year, that is from 71,21 percents to become 44,80 percents. The same pattern has occurred for room occupation rate of non classified hotel. Room occupation rate of non classified hotel has declined compared to previous year, that is from 42,99 percents to become 40,17 percents
          Tourism development programs have shown positive result. This matter can be seen on the progressively increasing of number of visitors to anumber of tourism spots. In the year 2006, the number of visitor was about 873.984 people, it is recorded that in the year 2007 the number of visitor about 943.904 people. The visitor growth in Jepara is presented.
